Ally's work is influenced by nostalgic settings and the relationship between the wilderness and the cultivated, from botanic gardens to castle ruins.

Jesse Lister is an illustrator, stationery designer and Ally's floral sidekick. Specialising in botanical designs in pencil, watercolour and ink, she uses the flowers and foliage in the AESME studio as references for her work.

Motivated by the challenge of adding new and different species to her portfolio, Jesse transfers the beauty of the originals to paper.

Sisters Ally and Jesse instinctively challenge and encourage each other's creative ideas, and collaboratively draw inspiration from the same myriad of sources; from the Great Rift Valley to the untamed Cornish coast, Victorian glasshouses, Scandinavian design and London street life, the textiles of William Morris and the still life paintings of the Dutch and Flemish Masters.
